Logos...

I created a few simple logos for the youth group of our church plant...What do you think? Consider the fact that they're made in Microsoft Paint :) The first is for our youth ministry as a whole, which I want to call GYM (which stands for Grace Youth Ministry):
I was going for the whole dumbell image.
The second one is for a program we've started as a youth group and as a church of having small groups meet in homes on Sunday Nights...We call them "Life Groups." I've wanted to use the acronym of SNL (Sunday Night Life)....So I sorta took the Saturday Night Live logo and changed it to suit our purposes....Is that illegal?! If so, please let me know!

Sunnyside

I got the rare opportunity to preach the morning and evening services at my home church in Indianapolis this week. This was a first for me, but I really enjoyed it and gained a lot from the experience. It's nervewracking to preach in front of people who've known you since you were in diapers, but they are all very loving and supportive of me and Stephanie. I really appreciated Mike, Lindsay, and Ruby coming all the way from Lafayette on short notice, the Pauls and Barbishes coming to see me, the rest of my family's ongoing support, and the Dimmicks' thoughtfulness and encouragement--not to leave anyone out! One more year of seminary and then hopefully God will reveal where He wants us to be. More and more we are looking forward and prayerful about His leading, wanting so badly to be somewhere where we can serve without feeling pulled in many directions! Ministry is tiring and harder than most think--but we can't wait! Thank you all for your prayers and your kind words!
By the way, Happy birthday Mom! We hope you have a good one!

July Fourth Weekend

This past week, we had a wonderful time visiting family and friends! It started Tuesday evening when we were able to spend quality time with my mom and then spent the rest of the evening with Jen and Justin at their new house. We had a nice meal together, took a walk through Fishers, and played Phase 10 and Battle of the Sexes late into the night :)
Wednesday was July 4th, which we spent with my extended family at the McCutchen's house. We played volleyball, caught up with everybody, ate good food, and watched some fireworks in the backyard (some of which were actually shot at people--on purpose!). It was a blast!
Thursday we drove to Cincinnati, and Stephanie's grandma took us to the Creation Museum, which is run by the creators of Answers in Genesis--a site that I really have learned a lot from. Basically, in this museum they offer a biblical--and logical--explanation of scientific data that are typically used to support evolutionary thought. It really is fascinating stuff. We learned a lot and came away wanting to study much more!
Friday we went to King's Island, which was very enjoyable. The water park was especially nice that day. We even got to hear the Dave Crowder Band play since they were having Christian concerts that day at the park.

Saturday was spent with Stephanie's family in Cincinnati. We had a good time with all of them. The girls went and saw Wild Hogs and the boys went and saw Transformers, which is a must-see in my opinion. It's phenomenal!
Saturday night, we got home and my check from UPS was in the mail! So I have officially quit there and am back at Panera full-force now. It's nice to actually be able to keep a fairly normal schedule again! That's all for now. But here are some pictures from the weekend:
